Frances

Frances is an up and coming singer-songwriter born and raised in Singapore.

Growing up, she has always been passionate about music. Performing from the tender age of 5, she has experience singing in the City Harvest Children’s Church Choir, Henry Park Primary School Choir, Bethesda Bedok Tampines Church Worship Team, Crescent Girls’ School Concerts, ACS Independent Vocal Accord A Capella Group, ACS Independent Symphonic Band, ACSI School Concerts, YMCA Youth For Causes Charity Concerts, London Overseas Christian Fellowship Worship Leader, New Creation Church VG Worship, LSE Singapore Society Freshers’ Ball, NYC International Christian Fellowship Worship Leader, NYU School Concerts, Wedding Banquets and more.

Inspired by her favorite artist, Taylor Swift, she wrote her first song, ‘What Can’t Be Changed’ at age 13 and has been writing song ever since. The song eventually got her into the Semi-Finals at the UK Songwriting Competition when she submitted it in 2022.

Upon completing her Undergraduate Law Degree at the London School of Economics, she decided to combine her love for music and writing by pursuing songwriting.

She participated in New York University’s Summer Songwriter’s Workshop where she studied with Grammy-nominated songwriter Phil Galdston, multi platinum songwriter Dana Calitri and Grammy and Emmy-nominated songwriter David Wolfert. Over the 2-week workshop, 42 students wrote about 100 songs. 20 songs were chosen to be showcased at the SongShare Finale Concert at the NYU Frederick Loewe Theatre, out of which 3 were written/co-written by Frances.

The positive experience she had at the workshop encouraged her to pursue songwriting further by sharpening her skills through Berklee Online courses and applying for a Masters of Music in Songwriting at NYU in 2022.

She is currently completing her Masters Degree in Songwriting at NYU, where she is studying Voice with Grammy-winning American Jazz Vocalist, Nicole Zuraitis (for Best Jazz Vocal Album 2024).

Frances released her first single, ‘What Can’t Be Changed’ on all streaming platforms in 2023 and she will be releasing many more songs by the end of this year.
